Human Relationships And The Social Psychological Theories...

Human relationships are the foundation of human life, they strongly influence other individual’s behaviour (Bercheid et al., 2000). There are different types of relationships such as co workers, friendship, marriage which all involve a connection and therefore is an important characteristic of the formation of human relationships (Salisch 1996). The purpose of this essay is to explore research within human relationships and the relevant social psychological theories that have been linked with this conflicting topic. The theories that will be discussed throughout this essay will be the attribution theory, social learning theory, social exchange, attachment theory, evolutionary theory and the breakdown of relationships. The social exchange theory can be defined as a term that allows behaviour to be exchanged to allow a relationship between two people to happen (Huston et al., 2013). An individual social life involves interactions between two people which can be viewed as social exchanges in terms of costs and benefits (Nakagawa et al., 2013). By taking the view of human relationships the social exchange theory argues that individuals engage in a cost benefit analysis which forms their relationship with others (Milkie et al., 2004). When the costs and benefits are equal in a relationship, it is defined as equitable (Siddiqui 2008). Moreover, romantic relationships may be difficult for some people as it involves interpersonal skills in order to make them mutually satisfying therefore requires constant maintenance. Diabetes or as doctors would refer by as diabetes mellitus, is a group of metabolic diseases in which a person has a high blood glucose level above 110 mg/dL because insulin production is inadequate, the body’s cells do not respond properly to insulin or even both. Diabetes mellitus is also a contributing factor of development of cardiovascular disease, hypertension, renal failure, blindness, and stroke as individuals’ age. There are 3 different types of diabetes mellitus, type 1diabetes mellitus also known as juvenile diabetes mellitus, usually occurs at a much younger and has no successful interventions to prevent this disease. It’s an autoimmune disease in which the persons’ body has ruined their own insulin producing beta cells in their pancreas; therefore they are unable to produce insulin. (Sommer Johnson, 2015). Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a progressive condition where the cells become insulin resistant and decreased production of insulin by the beta cells. Majority of people with type 2 diabetes mellitus developed the condition because the individual is overweight due to lack of exercise, stress, and/or poor eating habits. Mill’s Utilitarianism: Sacrifice the Innocent For Essay Thesis The Common Good?Mills Utilitarianism: Sacrifice the Innocent For The Common Good?When faced with a moral dilemma, utilitarianism identifies theappropriate considerations, but offers no realistic way to gather the necessaryinformation to make the required calculations. This lack of information is aproblem both in evaluating the welfare issues and in evaluating theconsequentialist issues which utilitarianism requires be weighed when makingmoral decisions. Utilitarianism attempts to solve both of these difficulties byappealing to experience; however, no method of reconciling an individualdecision with the rules of experience is suggested, and no relative weights areassigned to the various considerations. In deciding whether or not to torture a terrorist who has planted a bombin New York City, a utilitarian must evaluate both the overall welfare of thepeople involved or effected by the action taken, and the consequences of theaction taken. To calculate the welfare of the people involved in or effected byan action, utilitarianism requires that all individuals be considered equally. Quantitative utilitarians would weigh the pleasure and pain which wouldbe caused by the bomb exploding against the pleasure and pain that would becaused by torturing the terrorist. Then, the amounts would be summed andcompared. The problem with this method is that it is impossible to knowbeforehand how much pain would be caused by the bomb exploding or how much painwould be caused by the torture. Utilitarianism offers no practical way to makethe interpersonal comparison of utility necessary to compare the pains. In thecase of the bomb exploding, it at least seems highly probable that a greateramount of pain would be caused, at least in the present, by the bomb exploding. This probability suffices for a quantitative utilitarian, but it does notaccount for the consequences, which create an entirely different problem, whichwill be discussed below. The probability also does not hold for Millsutilitarianism. Mills Utilitarianism insists on qualitative utilitarianism, whichrequires that one consider not only the amount of pain or pleasure, but also thequality of such pain and pleasure. Mill suggests that to distinguish betweendifferent pains and pleasures we should ask people who have experienced bothtypes which is more pleasurable or more painful. This solution does not work forthe question of torture compared to death in an explosion. There is no one whohas experienced both, therefore, there is no one who can be consulted. Even if we agree that the pain caused by the number of deaths in theexplosion is greater than the pain of the terrorist being tortured, thisassessment only accounts for the welfare half of the utilitariansconsiderations. Furthermore, one has no way to measure how much more pain iscaused by allowing the bomb to explode than by torturing the terrorist. After settling the issues surrounding the welfare, a utilitarian mustalso consider the consequences of an action. In weighing the consequences, thereare two important considerations. The first, which is especially important toobjectivist Utilitarianism, is which people will be killed. The second is theprecedent which will be set by the action. Unfortunately for the decision maker,the information necessary to make either of these calculations is unavailable. There is no way to determine which people will be killed and weighwhether their deaths would be good for society. Utilitarianism requires that onecompare the good that the people would do for society with the harm they woulddo society if they were not killed. It is impossible to determine how mucheffect on precedent any given isolated action will have. In the case ofdetermining whether or not to torture the terrorist, one must consider whetherit is good for society to allow torture to be used as a method of gaininginformation. If it is bad, one must determine whether this action will create aprecedent. If it will create or contribute to the creation of a precedent, onemust compare the detrimental effects of this precedent with the otherconsequences and welfare caused by the action. Utilitarianism offers no methodfor comparison. The problem is that a person faced with making the decision cannot getthe information. Even through experience, it is hard to judge how much effecteach action has on precedent. More specifically, it is hard to determine whetheran action is worthy of being an exception to a rule. Utilitarianism offers noresolution to this problem. Utilitarianism also considers the Theory of Desert to be instrumentallyvaluable to the promotion of happiness. It is generally good for society toreward people for doing right and to punish them for doing wrong. Using thisbelief in the value of justice, a utilitarian would have more trouble torturingthe child of the terrorist than with torturing the terrorist. The dilemma wouldbe similar to that of precedent. A utilitarian would ask how much it will harmsocietys faith in the punishment of evildoers and the protection of theinnocent to torture the child. The sum of the consequences would then be compared to the sum of thewelfare considerations to decides whether or not to torture the terrorist andwhether or not to torture the child of the terrorist. In some way, these thingsmust therefore all be comparable and assigned weights; however, Utilitarianismoffers no method of comparison. There must be some percentage of considerationgiven to the harmful precedent set compared to the amount of pain caused by thedeaths, compared to the pain the terrorist or the child being tortured feels,compared to the harm society will be saved from by the deaths of people in theexplosion, compared to the good that society will be deprived of by the deathsin the explosion. The overarching problem with utilitarianism as a method for decisionmaking is that not enough of the necessary information is available and there isno scale on which to weigh the various considerations. Basically, the subjectiveutilitarian would probably consider that the deaths of many is worse than thetorture of one. Depending on how much weight is given to the detrimental effectsof the precedent which would be set by torturing the terrorist, the utilitariancould consider this to outweigh the greater pain caused by the explosion or not. Different people have different moral consciences, which dictate differentactions. These differences will dictate where the person puts the most weight inthe utilitarian considerations, since utilitarianism does not specify. Timeline of Reconstruction Reconstruction was a time of rebuilding the the United States after the tumultuous years of the Civil War. It lasted from the end of Civil War in 1865 to the Compromise of 1877 when Rutherford B. Hayes was given the presidency  in exchange for removing federal troops from Southern states.  Following are key events that occurred during this era including events that were occurring in other parts of the United States. 1865 Congress passed the Thirteenth Amendment which abolished slavery in the United States.  Robert E. Lee surrendered his Confederate forces at Appomattox Courthouse.   Abraham Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth while attending a play at Fords Theater.   Andrew Johnson succeeded Lincoln to the presidency.  Johnson began implementing a restoration plan based loosely on Lincolns ideas to help reintegrate the South. He issues pardons to most Confederates who are willing to take an oath of loyalty.  The last slaves in the United States are emancipated on June 19th, also called Juneteenth.  Mississippi creates black codes that limit the rights of freed blacks. They soon become common across the South.  The Freedmans Bureau is established.   1866 Congress passed the Fourteenth Amendment which ensured equal protection of the laws to all persons.  Most Southern states reject it.  The Civil Rights Act of 1866 was passed which granted full citizenship and civil rights to blacks.  The Ku Klux Klan was founded in Tennessee. It would extend throughout the South by 1868.  The First Transatlantic Cable was completed.   1867   The Military Reconstruction Act divided the former Confederacy into five military districts. Union generals policed these districts.  The Tenure of Office Act was passed requiring congressional approval before the president could remove appointees. This was to try and force Johnson to keep Radical Republican Edwin Stanton as Secretary of War. He went against the act when he removed Stanton from office in August.  The Grange  was established by farmers in the Midwest. These were Virginia, Mississippi, Texas, and Georgia.  The first black Senator, Hiram E. Revels, assumed the seat of Jefferson Davis.  The Enforcement Act was passed. This was allowed for federal intervention against the Ku Klux Klan.  A California case, White v. Flood, set the precedent for schools to be segregated by race.   1871 The Indian Appropriations Act was passed. This made all Native Americans as wards of the state.Boss Tweed political machine was exposed by the New York Times.The greenback becomes legal tender.  US reached the Alabama settlement with England over the aid it gave to the Confederacy in building warships. When I was about 7 old ages old, my older brother soap was reading me a book about Christianity. We went through each paged and I remember truly praying what these pages were stating. My twin brother s Max and Kurt are more of the wild Childs. They had a much better rela tionship with my parents but they were making things outside of the house that were non right. Although my parents caught them a few times, they decided to maintain life that life manner. Once once more I promised myself that I would neer move like that behind my parents back. So high school functions around and I m the small Fulginiti that everyone knows. Having my brothers be really popular was amazing cause I made friends really easy. But on the other manus it exposed me to many things do to the fact that the older high schoolers would ask for me to party s. Through first-year twelvemonth I went to a batch of parties and merely sort of Saturday around and did non partake in any of the things that those childs were making. The sophomore twelvemonth rolled around and I had grown a few inches and felt like a mature adult male. I started to make the really things I promised myself I would nt make. I started moving up to my parents from clip to clip and making things outside of the house that I should nt make. Choosing my friends sagely, non seting myself into bad state of affairss, and reading the Bible more were all things I still do to this twenty-four hours. The remainder of high school I have slipped up here and at that place but overall I have stayed on the right way. God blessed me with fantastic parents, brothers to larn from, and an astonishing Christ-like girlfriend to maintain me on the right way! As college attacks really rapidly, I am assuring myself the same things as I did as a child. I plan to go to Campus Outreach at Elon to maintain my religion strong. Campus Outreach did admirations for my brother Zach, who has had a 360 degree attitude alteration towards my ma and life in general. I besides plan to take my friends sagely. Surrounding myself with work forces and adult females of God is one thing that I must make to remain on the right path. And eventually remaining in the Word of God is a must for me to remain the way through college. Although I will be really busy with football, there is ever clip for enticement. I hope and pray that God will give me the strength to maintain the way. I feel confident I can maintain my religion through College and even turn stronger in it.

Je tu il elle on vous - Singular French Subject Pronouns To replace a noun, French uses a word called â€Å"a pronoun†. You choose this pronoun according to both the grammatical value of the word it replaces and the meaning of the word it replaces. Anne est au marcheÃŒ . Elle est avec Mary.Anne is at the market. She is with Mary   To replace â€Å"Anne† in the second sentence, I used â€Å"elle† (she). â€Å"Elle† is a subject pronoun: it replaces a noun subject of the verb, and its a third person singular to match Anne which is a person about whom I am speaking, feminine, one person, so she. What is a Subject? The subject is the person or thing that does the action of the verb.   How do you Find the Subject of a Sentence in French? There is an easy way to find the subject of a sentence, and its important in French you learn this grammatical question in order to be able to find the subject of a verb without any doubt. First, find the verb. Then ask: â€Å"who verb† or â€Å"what verb†.  The answer to that question will be your subject. A subject is a noun (Camille, flower, room...) or a pronoun (I, you, they...). It can be a person, a thing, a place, an idea...   Examples:  I paint.Who paints?Answer: I paint. â€Å"I† is the subject. Camille is teaching French.Who is teaching?Answer:  Camille is teaching.â€Å"Camille† is the subject.   What is happening to Camille?What’s happening?Answer:  What is happening.â€Å"What† is the subject (This one was trickier, wasn’t it?)   French Subject Pronouns Replacing One Person In French, the list of singular subject pronouns is: Je (or j’ vowel or h, its called an elision) I  Ã‚   Tu (never t’) you singular informal   Il it, he - long â€Å"ee† sound​ Elle it, she - short clip â€Å"L† sound On - this one is more difficult to understand. It used to mean â€Å" one â€Å", but nowadays is used in casual French to say â€Å" we , instead of the now more formal/written form â€Å" nous â€Å". So although its listed as a singular pronoun, nowadays its mostly used to replace several people, so for a plural. See my lesson on on. Vous you, one person, formal. Note that vous is also the pronoun we use for you plural, when you say you to talk to more than one person (yous guys :-) Traditionally, vous is listed as a plural subject pronoun, although it can and does often refer to only one person. Its confusing, I know, so I wrote a whole lesson on tu versus vous. ​French Subject Pronouns Replacing Several People In French, the list of plural subject pronouns (replacing several people) is: Nous we - S is silent, but becomes Z when followed by a vowel or an h. (Nowadays, â€Å" nous â€Å" is used in a formal context and in writing mostly. In conversation, we tend to use â€Å"onâ€Å"). Vous you plural, both formal and informal - S is silent, but becomes Z vowel or an h. Ils they masculine or they masculine and feminine - S is silent, but becomes Z vowel or an h. Elles they feminine ONLY - S is silent, but becomes Z vowel or an h. ​Important : In Pronunciation Il ils / elle elles â€Å"Il† and ils have the same pronunciation, sort of an English eel, and â€Å"Elle† has the same pronunciation as its plural form â€Å"Elles† sort of an English   L sound . Do not pronounce the S to remember the spelling; it would mess up your pronunciation! Oh, and since Im talking about pronunciation, you will soon see that most verbs will take an silent ent to match with ils and elles - Im not explaining the whole French conjugation concept here yet, just planting a seed: this ent matching ils and elles will always be silent. Its not pronounced an, its not pronounced at all. Never in a verb. Its a very bad, but very common mistake French student make. No it Subject Pronoun in French There is no â€Å"it† form in French. Everything: objects, concepts, animals etc. are either masculine or  feminine in French, and are therefore referred to as â€Å"il† or â€Å"elle†. So dont think of il and elle as being only he and she, they also mean it. It will be weird at first, but you will get used to it, I promise.   What Do First, Second, Third Person Singular and Plural Mean? This concept is often baffling to student of French, but its a standard for grammatical jargon. Subject pronouns are often referred to as persons and this is how most grammar books will present a French verb conjugation : a table, with 3 lines, and two columns. As an example, I will take the verb chanter, to sing, in the present indicative tense. Singular Plural Je chante Nous chantons Tu chantes Vous chantez Il, elle, on chante Ils, elles chantent Je is often referred to as the first person singular or 1ps, tu as second person singular or 2ps... can you guess nous? 1st person plural. Which makes ils and elles both third person plural. This presentation is super confusing if you ask me since vous for example could replace BOTH a singular or a plural... But its very common to talk about verbs this way in French, and most French teachers are so accustom to it that they wont even understand that its weird...   French Subject Pronouns in Detail So now that you get an overview of the singular French subject pronouns, lets look at them individually.
